ARCHITECTS INSIDE THE LANDSCAPE
During the tradition of the Festival the treatment of the authors has always preferred the key of understanding the trade, the cultural context, the research process that every architect of some value express not only in its works but also in the design, the writings, the teaching, the differrent ways of manifesting of the knowledge and of the values in which he believes. From there come the idea of a different line of research with the title Storie di Architetti, that represents a different way, in respect to that of always more promotional and hagiographic exhibitions and events, to estabilish with the author a relationship of knowing deeper and retrospective. Going past the late romantic convention of a landscape architect who can still be identified with the project of parks, gardens and green, the theme of landscape would like to conjure some stories of “non landscape architects” that could make a peculiar statement of their artistic experience in the landscape. As it happens in the traction of a landscape of the memory, the one celebrated by EDVARD RAVNIKAR and BOGDAN BOGDANOVIC, authors of vast and complex, monumental and commemorative works that involve the landscape dimension of many places of Ex-Jugoslavia. From the Country Club landscape to the National Schools of Art of L’Havana, another story brings us here, in the climate of a revolution where a group of architects, GARATTI, GOTTARDI, PORRO try on types, forms and figures of an expression that tried to intepret the better energies of a process of change, the ones of the political function of the critical and creative value of art. A completely different story could be derived from the figure of JOHN HEJDUK, where the research seems keen to verify if the more playfully introverted between the Five Architects could give us an extraordinary lesson in how the idea of landscape could cross and feed the different dimensions of the revealing of architecture, from domestic to the urban one.
